Ideal Serving Temperature of Wine

Have you ever had warm Coke or beer? Don’t they taste better when chilled or at your preferred temperature?

Same goes with wine.As a general rule white wines should be served between 8 to 12°C and red wines should be served between 14 to 20°C.

As with everything in wine, the serving temperature also depends on the style of wine and personal preference but if the wine is too cold or warm, it ends up altering its characteristics.

If too cold the wine may lose all its flavour and if it is too warm it may feel too alcoholic. Here I have listed the ideal temperatures for different wine styles.

Below are the suggested temperatures in Celsius and Fahrenheit.

Don’t shy away from keeping your wines in the refrigerator before serving. Sparkling wines should mostly be served chilled.

Also, please check your room temperature before serving anything at room temperature (especially in warmer regions or summer months)!
